Vespula Vulgaris

Vespula Vulgaris is an ongoing project exploring sexual hypocrisy within WASP culture. I am exploring themes of cultural decay, the evolution (or rebellion rather) of modern day WASPs, and elements of contradiction regarding attitudes towards sex versus sex in practice. I was expressing these ideas by taking clothes that are usually thought of as preppy or WASPy and finding ways to manipulate, deconstruct, reconstruct, reinvent, and combine these garments. The project in its physical form was put on pause due to the pandemic, but lead to other explorations which birthed the magazine Physical Object Love Child. What I have currently for Vespula Vulgaris is in the form of process photos and video.
